The high quality of our olive oil depends on the location and proper cultivation of the olive groves, the correct extraction process at the mill, and the storage conditions of the bulk olive oil until its packaging. Additionally, the packaging and the proper storage at your home or business play a crucial role in maintaining its quality throughout its use. At Nostalgaia, we take care of every stage of production in order to preserve the freshness and the nutritional qualities of our olive oil.
Olive Grove Area
Our Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced from Koroneiki variety olives that we cultivate ourselves. Our family-owned olive groves are located in the semi-mountainous areas of Agrilia, Achaia, and Vasilaki, Laconia.
Olive Oil Extraction
The extraction of the olive oil takes place in selected, modern, certified mills at temperatures up to 27°C, ensuring premium quality olive oil, rich in aromas and nutritional properties.
Olive Oil Storage
Our olive oil is filtered using a gentle paper filter and stored in stainless steel tanks with nitrogen, within our privately owned facilities. These facilities maintain stable temperatures between 14°C and 18°C throughout the year and provide the dark environment needed to prevent the oxidation and to preserve the aromas, the fruity taste, and the rich organoleptic characteristics of our olive oil over time.
Recommended Packaging
The large 5L packaging is ideal for families and catering professionals, as the per liter cost is reduced compared to our smaller packaging options. The tinplate container protects the olive oil from light and plasticizers, while the ergonomic spout allows for controlled pouring of the olive oil.
Olive Oil Characteristics
Our olive oil has a golden-green color, acidity up to 0.2%, fruity taste, mild bitterness, and a slightly spicy note. It is rich in polyphenols, antioxidants, monounsaturated fatty acids, Vitamin E, and anti-inflammatory compounds that are particularly beneficial to our health.
Our Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil carries an officially certified health claim, in accordance with EU Regulation 432/2012 of the European Union.
The chemical analysis was conducted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, confirming that a daily consumption of 20g of olive oil provides a sufficient amount of polyphenols to help protect blood lipids from oxidative stress.
Uses of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Our olive oil is used to add special flavors and unique nutritional value to everyday cooking, legumes, grilled dishes, etc. Its rich aromas and spicy while fruity taste, pairs perfectly with boiled vegetables, salads, grilled fish, and meats.
Production Certification
Our facilities have all the necessary operating licenses, and our products’ quality is checked by the Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) and certified by TUV AUSTRIA HELLAS concerning our food safety management system according to FSSC 22000 standards. For us, certifications are not just paperwork; behind every certification lies our consistent adherence to all required production procedures and standards, ensuring the final product reaches your kitchen in excellent condition.
Storage Instructions
To preserve the freshness, the mild flavor, and the rich organoleptic qualities of the olive oil, please store it in a shaded area, away from high temperatures, intense light, and of course in a clean environment. Olive oil’s enemies are strong light, high temperatures, and unpleasant odors.
